My Invisible Husband – The New York Times

The last time David visited his ailing grandmother, he hid his wedding ring in his pocket. He never told her of his identity as a married, gay man. David’s fearful grandmother disowned him, and his family never told her about David’s loving marriage to his husband, Constantino. This was a lie that David lived with until the day she died.

Today, David shares how that lie left a huge hole in his relationship with his grandmother—and the power of telling the truth in his eulogy.
